Have you tried asking for his number? Are you sure no-one is filling their pockets in the shop while you are taking these calls? Is it wise,if you have cash on the premesis,to be telling someone your Dads movements?

Good thinking Batman - but it's the middle of the afternoon when they call & as he's been up since 4am he goes home to get some kip. My mum just tells them he'll be in at 2pm & to call back then.

No, there's been no-one in filling their pockets - we have CCTV installed anyway - it's just all very baffling!!
The Rock Chick, she say 'courtesy costs nowt' - spread the word! :D

But in that case ,are you not telling them that at some point prior to 2pm-he is not on the premesis?
  • What does your dad have to say about all this? Do the names 'Doug Weston' and 'Cyn Chan Cheung' mean anything to him? When these names are mentioned, what is his reaction?
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • if you go on to bt's websit put in doug weston and your town and see if his name and number comes up?

Your Mum should simply tell him your Dad is "busy" next time he rings, ask why he has called at a time she told him he wasnt there, then ask for his number, and a time convenient to him your Dad could call him back. The only scam that comes to mind is someone trying to get his personal details ,so dont confirm them over the phone.Perhaps your Dad could have his Solicitors address handy,in case he is told he is the recipient of some huge cash award!!

My dad is just as baffled as my mum is & he thinks it's a scam too. Funnily enough though, the guy hasn't called since I last posted so I'm hoping that may be the last of it.

;) Thanks for all the help, peeps! If I found out anything more I'll update you. ;)

EDIT: SORRY - I HAVE POSTED ON MY MUMS USER NAME BY ACCIDENT - I'M USING HER COMPUTER AT THE MO' & I FORGOT TO SIGN HER OUT AND SIGN MYSELF IN!! WHAT A NUMPTY!!

    Something to prepare:

get your dad to record some basic phrases onto a cassette machine e.g 'hello'; 'what do you want'; 'could you repeat that please'; 'could you repeat very slowly, I am a bit deaf'; ' can i have your telephone number and address'; 'goodbye'

Then write down exactly what was said. I think it's against the law to record someone on the phone without telling them, but you can write down what they say.

    Might come in useful.
  • when they ask to speak to him, just say, yes it´s me speaking, see what the person says then.
