Dried in BBQ sauce on jeans

Hi all,
Not sure if I have asked this already, if I have slap me in the face with a wet fish and tell me to stop being so blonde!
OH managed to drop some BBQ spare ribs on his brand new jeans a week or so ago an3d I completely forgot that I left them in the washing bin until I decided what to do with them. So, by now the stain is REALLY dried in from the heat recently and I was going to buy Vanish Power Spray thingie to give it a go - says it works on dried in dtains.
Just wondered if any of you guys had a chesaper.more reliable solution before I part with my hard earned cash?
