Why can I not get one?

Hi guys,

I have applied for a credit card with capital one recentley and was declined...
I want a cc so i can pay for a few things and pay off the full amount each month to help build me POOR credit score?

Anybody got any hints/ tips for who will accept me?

Thanks in advance,
Andrew x

    Try your own bank first.
It might not be the greatest card, but if you've had a current account with them then you are more likely to get one.

Don't whatever you do make loads of applications.
Lots of applications will make your credit report much worse.

Build up some credit history, make payments on time and then maybe apply for a better card 6 months down the line.

I think that answer is above Andrew. It seems some people with even great crdit scores are having troubles getting a credit card at the moment, with banks and CC companies tightening up their lending, try Vanquis if you can afford to pay off all, or the majority of the balance each month

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
