Dabs.com next day delivery "scam"

I work with computers and yesterday a customer placed an order that requires me to buy a new PC just for his work.
So, I chose a particular model and as I need it urgently (can't start the work until I have it, and can't get paid until I do the work!) I chose a company that promised delivery by next day on any orders for items "In Stock" that are placed before 7:30pm.
What could go wrong with that...?
Well, it seems that there is "In Stock" and "In Stock"! This item it seems was in the warehouse, but not on the shelf where they expected it to be. They had no trouble locating it, but they just were not prepared to send it the same day as the order!
It took me a huge amount of arguing with them just to get them to offer to reduce the delivery charge by about £3. When I asked for the whole delivery charge to be refunded - they hung up on me!
So, my advice? Avoid Dabs.com like the plague!

But if they couldnt find it,wouldnt you rather be aware there might be a problem locating it? If they had promised to send it,then it didnt arrive on time because it was misplaced you would have genuine reason to vent,or is it just me?Dabs-not debs.0

have to say I have used dabs.com a few times and have had great service each time.
did they contact you to let you know what was happening or did you telephone your order?Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
They made no effort to contact me - it was only when I contacted them to query the status of the order an re-iterate how important it was that I got it today that they said basically "oh, well, there may be a problem then"
I suspect that they may be doing this from time to time just to allow them to charge extra for next day and then not do it.
Maybe this was genuinely a mistake - but they were not in the slightest apologetic about it and the most that I managed to pry out of them was a statement that after it is delivered I can then apply for a reduction in my delivery charge for it not arriving next day (and to be honest I get the impression they will tell me that I am to late to claim than now!)
I have noticed in the past that when companies start getting into trouble they start making great claims that they cannot live up to and just hoping that the customers will let it slide.
I got the impression this time that Dabs.com did not really care about what they admitted was their error.
Currently I am still fuming - I may feel more relaxed about it later!0 -
But no-one would pay for next day delivery,if they didnt get next day delivery.0

I had a similar experience when I tried to order a sound card from them. According to the web site they had plenty in stock, when I placed the order I got a message saying the item was out of stock and they would "advise" me. I "advised" them to cancel the order - won't touch them again !0
