Part of the Furniture 100 Posts Combo Breaker
Hi, my mate has a prob on W/98, on internet explorer. When he gets onto the internet, he will have a pop up with illegal operation in red, saying various files are missing. Always slightly different information on the files. Usually Rundel is among them. Apparently he has returned everything to factory settings, but this was of no use. I could offer a few suggestion, but thought it was best to come to the experts, that is you lot!!!. From my point of few, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Could anyone help please.
Many thanks

best advice i can give is to reinstall the drivers and software for his modem, and also reinstall the browser he's using.
Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.

Do your friend a favour and dump IE and get Firefox instead.

I wouldn't go that far, as the warnings are rundll ones it's more than likely that he's uninstalled something that was using a shared dll and has lost the dll, all that need to be done is work out what is was and reinstall it, or reinstall the program thats generating the warnings such as IE.
Another option he has is to run the windows 98 setup cd and choose to repair the system, that should replace anything that is missing.
