Hi Everyone,
I cancelled my dd's last month and yesterday received 5 calls all from different creditors, they dont mess about!!! Anyway back to the point, I have been considering br for a while and wanted to know if anybodys knows whether I will be able to have my salary paid into my wifes account. I already have a coop account with a visa debit card so I assume that will be closed. It is not my main account this is with first direct who are one of my creditors. Any advice will be much appreciated.
Regards Phil

You can have your money paid into any account you want except childrens and as long as you have permission of the account holder.
The Co_op account is it a cashminder account? If not then open one as it is BR friendly. Just let them know you are going BR when you open it.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Hi Tigerfeet,
It is the next account up from a cashminder. I dont have any credit with coop, would I need to close that account and open another with them?

Well the one you have will be frozen by the bank anyway so it's up to you whether you close it or not. You will have to declare it on your forms what ever you do.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

or if co-op isnt a creditor could you not ask for the account to be downgraded to a cashminder one?We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Check with the Co-op.
I have a vague recollection that some people have managed to have their normal account downgraded. But I could be mistaken.
It would make things simpler if they will.

Thanks everyone. I will contact coop and ask them what the best course of action is.
As a side note one of my creditors, mbna, have passed my details onto a debt collection agency who phoned me yesterday, they said they would phone me everyday until i pay the arrears i owe, is this normal practice?:T BSC MEMBER 157 :T

Oh! yes. They will try to harrass you into paying.
Try sending them this recorded delivery and keep a log of all calls and if they continue to phone you report them to the OFT and Trading Standard.

Dear
I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the telephone calls that I have received from your company.
I am now formally requesting that all further correspondence be made in writing only.
I demand that these phone calls stop immediately and you remove any phone numbers you have for me on your system. I am familiar with the terms of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1970 and I believe your harassment places you in breach of these acts.
If you continue to call, you will also be in breach of the Wireless Telegraphy Act (1949) and, as such, I will report you to both Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading.
Take further note that continued telephone calls after the receipt of a request not to call may constitute a criminal offence under Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.
You will be deemed to have been served notice of my request and I will deem it served when it is signed for, I am advising you that any calls received after this date will be recorded with the intention of them being used as evidence.
Yours faithfully,BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

I just got off the phone to the coop and I opened a cashminder account. They assured me it would be fine during br and would not be frozen. They advised me to close my normal current account with them as soon as I was ready. I have to say that they were very very helpful.
