Kazz, get your union rep involved. I found my employer DWP to be hopeless. When I asked about medical retirement they said they didn't know anything about it so I had to quote them chapter and verse, even then they were somewhat tardy in sorting things out until the union rep stepped in. DWP HR policies are always changing and not for the better, I'm just grateful I'm not with them anymore0

I can't understand my supervisor he just told me that if i don't get my sick note in within the week it will slow my claim right down.....my Dr is getting sick of giving me sick notes 'because they can't keep up with their work' I also asked about sick pay at pension rate and was told that i was not entitled to it I will do further inquiries but was told that policy states that sick pay at pension rate can ONLY be paid if the employee is returning or expecting to return to work within 6 weeks. I was told that other Government departments have different policies and as i work for DWP then MOD policy is 'useless'....are they taking the pi** out of me??
I'm in a similar position but not in civil sevice. My 1/2 pay runs out in 2 months the retirement under ill health application has been in 8 weeks, I thought 3 or 4 months would be ample but maybe not.
Anyway I had to get a med4 form from the gp for IB when SSP ran out. He signed me off work untill further notice on the form and said this would suffice for both IB and my employers, (it did), so I no longer have to provide sick notesI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

My medical retirement came through on the 29th April, on quick independant assesment and a report in to my company within 5 days, and a descision in my favour, after consulting the pensions trustees was made within 4 weeks. (I do/did work for a private company though).
They even retired me from the day my then 1/2 pay ran out :j
First time they've done anything that actually helped me in 38 years but can't complain this time.;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Further help required please, I finally got my medical retirement through, got my pension sorted and a small lump sum will be in my bank within 10 days (only took just over 12 months). My next question is,, Am i entitled to any 'wage' or PILON. I rang HR who are as much help as a chocolate fireguard and they cannot tell me until 26th July, surely someone must know the procedure cos although my pension is sorted and i can never work again (i am only 39 years young). I vaguely remember reading something when i was at work that they have to call me in to get me to sign something to say that i will not consult a solicitor after i have received my final payment but no one seems to know. Please help this down trodden Civil Servant.0
