no BT or Cable line in new flat

I am moving to a new flat next monday and trying to get the phoneline re-connected so i can arrange a broadband provider. The flat isnt in a cable area, so i figure the landlord had a bt phone line. I called BT but they have no record of the address having a BT line. I dont want to pay to get a BT line put in as im only there for 6 months, and cant justify paying £120 jus for basic phone line. Any ideas how i can find out who supplies the phone line to the flat, as i know the landlord had broadband up until 2 weeks ago, but the letting agency im with have contacted the landlord and had no response about it.

Hope thats not too confusing, and that someone can help or give me some ideas. Thanks guys! :)
