If you're getting CCTV make sure it is digital (not video tape) and that the quality is good enough to identify someone from the picture otherwise it's useless. I'm sure your local police will have a crime prevention officer who could help you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Perhaps you should instruct your mechanic not to "exchange gestures" with anyone, especially if they are in a motor vehicle. There are many aggressive people driving without care and attention on the roads today and you need to stay clear of them rather than provoking them.
I've been riding motorcycles for 36 years and in the past few years I have sought training in 'motorcycle roadcraft' through instructors and with the Institute of Advanced Motoring. www.iam.org.uk I've had racetrack training too, so now I'm faster on the track and safer on the road.
I would highly recommend IAM or other roadcraft training for your mechanic. Many companies require it for their drivers.0 -
To say you can GUARANTEE it is stating the bleeding obvious! So before anti-terrorism laws they would have done what different exactly?
Diddly squat. Honestly.
But anti-terrorism legislation allows them to take away your pc so, when it emerges that you're nothing to do with terrorists, they can leak to the press that you were viewing illegal p0rn.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -

And what connection does that have with this road rage incident?0 -

Well said. This is the most relevant point that has been raised yet!0 -

<sigh>
The guy threatened phones Plod and tells them he was threatened by the driver of ABC 123Y who, he's sure, was brandishing a gun.
Plod use the PNC to establish who owns vehicle ABC 123Y and then go around and take his pc away.
Have you managed to keep up?

Police can only use the PNC if the vehicle has been registered.Machete wielding psychos dont usually do that. You are strange.0

Getting back on topic, I have to agree that oldtoolie has probably given the best advice for the future avoidance of incidents, we don't know what would have happened if the pair of them had not exchanged gestures, but it couldn't have been a lot worse, could it?Signature removed for peace of mind0

Personally I'd probably be looking at using a combination of an good monitored alarm system, outdoor security lighting.
CCTV wise you can get a 4 camera system that plugs records directly to a computer (although would be better to have a dedicated PC) for under £300 which will give you 4 cameras recording at 15fps which only activates via motion detection. This can be expanded easily up 16 cameras if needed and be remotely monitored.
Obviously it depends on what kind of budget you have available.
I really would like to buy what you describe above, what do I need to look up on the net?0 -
I would say try not to worry too much. At the time the car driver was annoyed and lost his temper and was venting his anger. Now he has calmed down hes probably regretting the incident and wished that he had kept his temper. I dont think he will be back . Its nothing personal against the mechanic, the car drivers probably not getting enough between the sheets/ is skint etc and if he was such a psyco he would not have left in the first place without a fight. On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0
