Which Supplier??

Hi all.
I have been with LTSB Ideal for my gas and electric for the past 12 months.
Two weeks ago I had someone knocking on the door at 8:15 on a Saturday morning, (it's not every Saturday I get a lie in) waking the household up asking to read the meter.
I wasn't best pleased and told him to go away. ( or words to that effect).
I spent the next week trying to find out who had sent them round.
I was amazed to be told that the people I pay my money to, Ideal, didn't know!!
They are the ones who I must turn to for customer services yet they have no answers. The reason? Ideal > Scottish Power > Meter Reading Services etc.
Too many people to deal with.
So, what I am after is not necessarily the cheapest, more, who gives the best customer care?
I think it's all well and good saving a penny here and a penny there but I have lost just as much as I may of saved spending money on phone calls and stamps plus time etc etc.
