Yes well I do think sometimes we have to look beyond the site rules. Andrew's offer is very generous and a fantastic customer service response to a crisis they suddenly found them in. The situation reminds me very much of the Free organic bodycare kit offer (although they never offered a discount, but they also discovered what happens when something gets posted on MSE).

• Andrew, I'm sorry if my post had you over-run with requests. I hope you can appreciate that I was mentioning your website in a positive light, because of the good quality of your products. Thank you for the discount, I will certainly be ordering, it's a great gesture.

To everyone else, see, I said the people were nice ;)

Well, I hope that the discount and/or samples will allow people to try a high quality tea. It does make a difference.
• Pity as I was hoping to try some. I hear red tea is very good and was thinking of try some green tea too.

Found this on their Free Samples page:

Since being featured in a post on the moneysavingexpert.com forum, we have been inundated with requests for samples. We cannot cope with the demand until our new system is in place (see below) so I'm afraid I'm having to temporarily suspend this offer. As things stand, our entire staff is going to spend the whole of Wednesday processing samples requests!

We are putting a new system in place so you can order your samples via the normal shopping system - the free samples will be a "pack size" option for each product up to the current maximum of 3, though we'll keep tabs on this and change it if necessary. This will greatly streamline our administration and allow us to get your samples out in good time.

So come back in the next day or two and the new system should be up and running and then you'll be able to get your Free Samples.

• Anetares and everyone,

I apologise for inadvertantly infringing your forum rules in my haste to clarify the situation. As I said before, I am delighted that so many people have visited (and in many cases left some very nice messages - thank you). All About Tea is a small specialist tea merchant with only 4 staff so unfortunately if I am to have a chance of fulfilling the existing requests and actual orders I do have to suspend the offer.

Anetares, it's no problem about your original post - you presented the site very positively and even asked people to respect the offer. Anyway it's the sort of problem we like to have!

I hope forum members will not mind me informing you here when the offer is back on - please let me know otherwise. Any questions please feel free to email me personally on andrew@allabouttea.co.uk.

• hi everyone,

I promised to let you be the first to know when our new Free Samples system was ready to be unveiled.

Well, this work is now complete so please feel free to come and have a look at www.allabouttea.co.uk. The new system requires you to choose your free samples using the normal shopping system instead of using the contact form. This means that you need to do a little more work going through the site to choose the teas you want. I hope you will agree this is a fair deal in exchange for the free tea, since naturally I trust you will decide you want to come back to us after exploring the site.

Two caveats - first, I have limited the offer to TWO free samples, and second, I am going to have to keep the system under review - so I reserve the right to suspend the offer if we get inundated with requests again!

That said - the offer is now open again so I look forward to seeing you at www.allabouttea.co.uk. Any ??? feel free to email me (address on previous post).

I have one question for Andrew: the free samples for White Tea still seem to cost, between £2.50 and £6.63. Now I know that these teas are really expensive, but shouldn't free still mean free?

Well done again Andrew. I hope your 4 staff will soon be inundated again in the right way - with lots of paying orders!

It's a great site and very informative - I do hope you will be very successful.
• Edna - thank you for your comments!

Beate - yes, free means free. I'm sorry about this glitch. We had a bit of a nightmare with the database today while we tried to get the new system up and running. Basically some parts of the database did not update correctly and a few teas showed a cost for the free samples. I thought we'd corrected them all but I see Silver needles is still showing as £4 so I'll change it now. Please be patient with us - we have rushed out a whole new system as quick as we could for you in response to the issues mentioned in this thread and it's probably going to take a little more time to bed down.

On a separate issue:

May I please ask a few people very politely to enter into the spirit of my offer by not making multiple orders to get round the 2 samples limit? Where this has happened we will just ship the first order. We have made a huge effort to get this offer going again for you and if I am to keep it going there has to be a limit! Does that sound fair?

Andrew
• Andrew, I am seriously impressed with your response to the overwhelming request for samples.

If your tea is as good as your customer service, I will definitely be back for more paid for orders
