Free Tea - Specialty Black, Green, White, Red, Herbal, Oolong, Fruit and Rooiboos Tea

This is an offer from a site I've come across whilst looking for a specific type of tea. They do a wide range, browse the site, decide what you'd like, fill in the 'contact us' form and they send you up to 3 samples. I got mine last week, I requested Silver Needle, Jasmine Silver Needle and Jasmine Pearls. These happen to be loose leaf ones, I got about enough for two separate infusions of each (but with White teas you can brew the same leaves up to 4 times). There is no postage charge and the people are really nice. You can find the contact form here:
http://www.allabouttea.co.uk/help.php?section=contactus&mode=update

Please use this offer reasonably, its a great chance for people interested in specialty teas to try some of the highest grades available. For instance I requested Silver Needle, the 1st grade of White tea, it consists of only the unfurled buds of the bush, usually picked on only two days a year in China, rare stuff. The prices vary, for the highest grade ones its obviously not cheap but you can buy in small quantities like 25g. They have all sorts of things, Silver Needle and Jade Pillar White teas, Jasmine Snow Lotus Green 'tea art' (put it in water and it blooms like a flower), some serious Black teas from Ceylon and Assam, as well as infusions like Passionfruit, Guava & Mango or Caramel, Oolong, Rooibos & Mate, and Red Tea.

Of course, this sort of thing is not for everyone. White and Green teas are supposed to be high in antioxidants which prop up the immune system, Oolong is purported to aid weight loss, etc. I just don't like black tea, I like weird ones. Anyone looking for White tea on an every-day basis might like to try Dragonfly Swirling Mist White Tea teabags. This is a Peony White tea (2nd, still very high grade) on offer in Waitrose for £1.89. They've just produced a new crop and it's good quality for a very low price, much better than Clipper White tea (in my opinion).

I swear, I don't work for the Chinese tea commission :D

Welcome, no worries. I just made my Jasmine Pearls, it's green tea rolled with jasmine and they all sort of unfurl and try to jump out. In a glass tea pot it was... let's say, as entertaining as I've ever found tea. The end product itself is the best I've had. I think some companies use an artificial sort of scenting but this from All About Tea is rolled with the flowers, tastes different.

http://theteahouse.co.uk/ have less choice but good prices on high grade stuff, though they sell out of things quite quick. They also do empty tea bags, takes the hassle out of loose leaf and you can make your own creations if you want to invent your own blend of teas. I've read about being able to use proper berries in infusions, so I'm going to try putting blueberries with my Silver Needle White tea.

I have too much time on my hands, eh? ;)

    You will never guess what?

Due to overwhelming demands for samples, they have suspended the free sample offer.

The site even goes on to mention that the reason due to the suspension is because the offer was mention on the Moneysaving Website! oh dear..

  • Just for information:

"!!!THIS OFFER HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED!!!

Since being featured in a post on the moneysavingexpert.com forum, we have been inundated with requests for samples. We cannot cope with the demand until our new system is in place (see below) so I'm afraid I'm having to temporarily suspend this offer. As things stand, our entire staff is going to spend the whole of Wednesday processing samples requests!

We are putting a new system in place so you can order your samples via the normal shopping system - the free samples will be a "pack size" option for each product up to the current maximum of 3, though we'll keep tabs on this and change it if necessary. This will greatly streamline our administration and allow us to get your samples out in good time.

So come back in the next day or two and the new system should be up and running and then you'll be able to get your Free Samples.

oops... so hang fire for a few days and try again it seems.... ;)

  • Hi everyone,

Andrew here from All About Tea. I am delighted that so many of you have come to the site and requested samples. So many, in fact, that as posted above, we simply cannot cope with the demand and I've unfortunately had to suspend the offer.

It will come back and you will be welcome to come and try some of our teas. I'll let you know in this forum when we're offering it again.

Meanwhile as an alternative I will give a 10% discount to MSE members - simply enter the following discount code at checkout: "mseforum". This applies to ALL products on the site.

Hope this keeps you happy and fully supplied with tea until the free samples are back! here's the link: www.allabouttea.co.uk

  • Thanks Andrew...

ps. I know Andrew's post isn't strictly as per the rules of this site, but it is only fair considering what has happened and its a bit of a bonus for the tea drinkers out there... good customer service I would call it...

What a good response from the company when faced with the "over exposure" on MSE! Credit to them and good luck with all the free publicity.
