can you tell us what else you put in it so far? If you haven't put them in already, how about adding some leeks, they really do help the flavour of home made soups along, or a little garlic if you like it?0

DH complained that my soups were a bit bland too. I tried adding a bit of ginger which really developed flavour (works well in risotto too) as well as more garlic and onion. A bit of paprika can help too.

sometimes it could even be a simple as not enough salt and/or pepper,I usually end up adding a little more at the end of cooking time and it makes all the difference0

Yes, while we're all more careful about using less salt these days, salt is in fact a natural taste enhancer.
Since I use very little salt in cooking - it's my first extra if something is very bland. If a bit of extra salt doesn't make a difference that I can taste, only then do I start raiding the spice rackHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. sounds wierd but I normally add a couple of dollops of brown sauce to chicken/turkey stews. Seems to give a nice savoury flavour with a hint of spice but not too overpowering. I would also second adding a bit more seasoning. Worcestershire sauce can be quite good too.0
