matter is an ongoing promotion with RM
im guessing to show potential users how much sales they can generate via direct mailing
i dont see it disappearing in the near future as it even got a mention in the RM staff magazine just this month

Have a look at your conformation email received from matter. i wonder Why it comes from [EMAIL="contact@matterbox.com"]contact@matterbox.com[/EMAIL] not the .com ending. If you check whois its a US company.
