I was the big fella with the toddler in a car seat who smiled a lot and drank loads of milk - do you remember me :rotfl:

Couple of times I came across UK passengers flying US carriers who had their UK manufactuered car seats refused by the airlines-caused some problems for them

The FAA more than likely will have different to the CAA on this

I showed Mrs Cat the CARES site last night and especially the 'installation' page.

Like me, she thinks that its a brilliant idea, if you don't want to/are unable to take a car seat with you.

  • Thinking of long haul flight sometime this year with a newborn baby and a 4 year old. Some Airlines offer the option of suppling a baby seat like Virgin Transatlantic.

What a great find cookie monster - does anyone other than Virgin offer the facility ? I take it that you'll be wanting to use the SkyCot ? blackcat.gif p.s. after doing a quick google, it looks like you'll need to phone and ask for one ASAP - some people are saying that they can be a bit hit and miss in supplying them.

Thanks for the information about this! I'm flying longhaul with my husband and toddler (she'll be 26 months for the trip) in May, and we've started having the "I want to take the carseat" "it'll be such a PITA" discussions... It looks like it's usable on the airline we're using, so now to give it a go.

because all plane crashes involve dropping out of the sky from altitude

Actually, one of the worst plane crash's in history happened at Tenerife North (Los Rocos), and involved a KLM 747 driving into a PAN AM 747, where the KLM aircraft was more than 50ft in the air, and the PAN AM aircraft had never left the ground!
