I am flying with Ryanair for the first time (Luton - Dublin).
Can anyone answer the following:
My flight is 6.35am on Friday - is this liely to be full or busy?
Are they really strict on hand baggage? My bag is about 2cms over size. Will they notice?
How will they know if checked baggage is being shared?
Many thanks

Is it this Friday that you are travelling? If so, the flight still has 50+ seats available.
Hand baggage is more an issue with the handling agents than the airline, and really down to individual staff members. People have had varying experiences in this respect, I have only flown from Luton once and had no problems.
It is not a problem sharing hold luggage, as long as you are within the 15kg allowance.
Enjoy! xGone ... or have I?0 -
I doubt they would care if checked baggage is shared. Most people put items of each others between bags incase 1 gets lost so sharing a bag won't be a problem.
I have only seen people questioned if their bag was obviously oversized.
Doubtful on the busy front at that time, maybe some businessmen for meetings in Ireland.
The friday evening flights to Dublin for weekend breaks are likely to be the busy ones, as are Sunday night returns.
As you are checking in at a desk with your bag, be sure to be there early to make sure you are checked in ok as the budget guys aren't generally too friendly with late comers.

Ryanair won't notice if you are sharing luggage. They will however notice if the bag weighs more than 15kg
As for hand luggage - it's in the lap of the Gods but if you can find a smaller bag then do so as if you do have to check hand luggage then expect to pay a pretty penny as it will invariably put you over your 15kg limit and hence liable for excess baggage charges
And turn up early - Ryanair will close the check-in precisely 40 minuets before departure regardless of if anyone is still queuing0 -
Thanks for all your replies.
Yes, it is this Friday we are going. How can you tell how many seats are available?
I have elected to check in online, as I am trying to take only hand luggage.
Coming back is Monday tea time, so I hope this wont be crowded either!
Reading other threads on this site, I am a bit worried about the experience, as I have only flown BA up to now. Still, I suppose my expectations have been set now!
Many thanks again"Carpe Diem"

I just tried to buy tickets for fifty people! If it is the 17.55 flight back on Monday, this is busy, looks like only twenty seats left (and a week left to sell them!).
Don't worry about flying with them, I have used them numerous times and have never had a problem. Most of the moaners have never even flown with them, either that or they expect business class standards for 1p!x

Don't worry about flying Ryanair. The fact that you're checking in online means you get priority boarding, so you'll be able to pick your seats. Even though your flight back is looking pretty full, you'll be getting on the plane before most people so you won't be separated.0 -
"Sharing" in the not allowed context means adding 2 allowances of say 15kg and trying to check in 1 bag of 30 or maybe a 20 and a 10. They mean you cant use some of the other persons weight. They have no problem if you want to put your knickers or boxers in your partners suitcase, as long as each checked in bag doesnt exceed the allowed weight per bag.0

I flew with Ryanair last week with hand luggage only ( and scales to check my bag wasn't overweight) but no one seemed remotely interested in the size or weight of my bag either going out from EMA or returning from Murcia.0

I have flown with Ryanair to Dublin a few times now. Never had any problems and think its very good value. Priority boarding is best as you get the pick of seats.
My daughter brought a lot of shopping back with her on our return trip and nothing was said. Just make sure your hand luggage is within the limits for the outward trip.
Have a good time!0 -
Priority boarding is also free with online check in (on easyjet) Maybe Ryanair as well
It wouldn't say its worth paying for, especially flying on your own!I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
