Transfer balance to Egg card

Hi all,

Received my egg card today, with 15 months interest free on balance transfers.
I have a Virgin card ,and want to pay off the full balance.
My question is.
Can I go to the Virgin website and pay off the full balance using my Egg card,or do I have to do the usual balance transfer through Egg,they charge
3%.
The girl on the phone said if I pay through Virgin it will come up as a cash advance...now I would rather save the 3% charge if I can, plus anyway, she's gonna tell me that.
Any advice please.
Thanks.
Vinnie.

Do Virgin accept credit card payments?

I doubt it would be applied as a cash advance, I could be wrong though. It will however most likely be applied as a purchase.

If you've just received a card now you must have applied in January. If so, your purchases are likely to be applied at 0% until 1st April 2008, meaning you'll get less than 2 months at 0%.

The only way you'll get the Virgin balance at 0% at (up to) 15 months is to give Egg your virgin credit card details so that they make the payment for you and charge you the 3% fee.

**Edit** If I am wrong and it does get applied to your Egg Card as a cash advance then the following will apply:

Max cash transaction limit of £500 per day, so depending on how big your balance is you may not be able to pay it all in one go.

3% cash handling fee (min £3). Cash interest accruing at 22.9% from the day its applied as there is no interest free period on cash advances.
  • Thanks Buddy,
Think Im gonna go ahead and let them make the payment for me as you said...
    Cheers for the advice.
    Thanks.
    Vinnie.
