Very good, so data protection does not apply to disclosing info to insurers and it is just the poor victim who gets fobbed off?

    Of course it doesn't.
They are entitled to get the details.

Why does the victim need to know the other persons details?

I would personally not want my details given out to other people.
I would be scared of them taking things into their own hands.

admitting liability at the scene dosent mean anything, most likely the TPI will fight it.

I agree, hubby had accident in May last year, due to son being in car I insisted he called police, I was at scene within 10 mins of accident. Other driver admitted liability and my legal cover got us solicitor who arranged for us to have a hire car until we got our fully comp insurance. The others drivers insurance agreed he had amitted liability so out claim was settled withing 2 week, great we though all our insurance has to do now is claim teh money back and solicitor get money abck for hire car.....

    WRONG

We now have third date for civil court ase as the other driver decided he was not liable after all, his solicitor has canceled court date first of all becuase wanted a civil enginer to do a site survey where accident happened, so my solicitor done the same. then date of second court case was not suitable. Date set again for april, 11 months from accident, police officer has been summoned as witness and 2 civil enginers, one from each side. I thought becasue he admitted liability to police it would be straightforward, no wasn't . all I am greatful for is I had fully comp and protected no claims, if not we would still be sitting with no car.

I hope you get sorted out
