I was stopped at the traffic lights when someone slammed into the back of me, i have since had pain in my neck, shoulder and back, the hospital said i had whiplash, my insurance company have already started a claim for personal injury for me, my car doesn't seem to have much damage but getting it checked into a garage tomorrow, but my real question is should i change my daughters car seat, she was in the car seat at the time and although she was and is fine after talking to the insurance guy he said i should claim for that too, does that mean i shouldn't put her into again? what about my son's carseat, nobody was in it at the time, does that also need replacing?, is there somewhere i can get the seats tested? Any help would be gratefully received

You won't be able to get the seats tested anywhere, as Al Mac says the seat in use at the time of the accident needs to be replaced, the harness straps will probably have stretched slightly (which is what they are designed to do) and may not do so again in another crash. The other seat may or may not need replacing - wouldn't like to say - if it was held in place by the seat belt it may have damaged the seat shell, but you wouldn't be able to see that sort of damage.:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Hi,
I was hit in December and the other driver admitted liability,I spoke to her insurance company and told them I needed to replace kids car seats ASAP!
My children were NOT in the car at the time of the accident and there were 3 car seats to replace.
Her insurance co ( elephant ) agreed all car seats needed replacing and they asked for brand and model names of car seats then they researched retail prices which totalled £200 for the 3 and paid this direct into my bank straight away.(the day after the accident)
So, get on to third parties insurance,if it was the other drivers fault you can deal with them direct.Do this with the PI claim too!
