Abbey Not A Good Habit

I have just read about the new six months Abbey savings bond paying out 6.71% interest. In the small print it clearly states Available to NEW and EXISTING customers depositing money NOT currently held in an Abbey account. How come, so you have to be an Abbey customer WITHOUT any money in any of their accounts. I phoned their advertised number, to which the adviser did not know the answer, held on 6 minutes and yes I had read it correctly, you CANNOT get this bond if you have money held in Abbey and want to transfer it. What a shambles, yet again penalised for being an Abbey customer, lost out also on the 10% they were offering some time back as only for new customers. I shall be closing all my account, put it in another bank then transferring back (if I feel like it now) to open the bond.,

I sort of understand where you are coming from, but at the end of the day they are trying to attract in new money, not just give you more for the existing money they already hold for you.
I have also missed out with them, on the 8% for the current account, as I already had one with 0.1%. However, I simply move the disposable amount of my wage into my Esaver as soon as it arrives to soften the blow (albeit to a still paltry 4.9%).0 -
Transfer the money out to another bank and then move it back into the new account.0
