Argos Card

I have had one of these for years but there has been nothing owing on it for at least 18 months, I am positive I won't be using it again,so, should I cancel it? will this have any effect on my credit score? or just leave it in the drawer for emergencies

  • If you purchase any item(s) totalling over £250.00 you will automatically get 6 months (sometime longer)interest free- to pay the balance. It is worth keeping the card as it has no annual fee or charges. Keeping the card may improve your overall credit rating.

However, if you have a lot of credit cards and do SBT etc,and want to apply for new credit cards, then reducing credit cards that you no longer use can help improve your chances of geting new ones with better credit limits.

    Hope this helps.

I'm in the same position as you MT ED. Have just started tarting, got to transfer the balance from the Argos card to RBS. Can't decided if I should close the Argos card. I don't plan any more big purchases so it might be worth closing, can always apply again if needed, don't think there would be a problem getting one again.

The argos card didn't even appear on my equifax report but did on the experian one.

If I was you I would cancel it if you have a couple of other cards already.
