I've just purchased a 160 g PVR from Asda Its an ONN brand which is Asda's own brand. Its a twin tuner and works brilliantly, pause live tv ect. It has a great remote control that is simple to use and works even if not directly aimed at the pvr. Cost £99.0

You will def be able to record from freesat to dvd via the second (in/out)scart, usually marked AV2.
Make sure the Samsung has a digital tuner, otherwise it will end up as just being a dvd recorder after analogue switch off.ac's lovechild0 -

I recently bought a Humax and I know they are more expensive but well worth it. Can record two things at the same time and still watch some other channels. Box can now do series links so you never have to remember to set it for a programme more than once!0

Hi
I read your article on cheap Freeview & Hard Drive Recorders, & thought I might add as a Virgin Cable customer that a V+ Box with a 160gb Hard drive in it is now reduced from £150 to £75 and you can record 2 channels while watching a 3rd channel. You also get the usual options like: Pause live TV. You get about 75 hours of recording, you can press one button to record program or to record series, so you never miss an episode of your favorite programs. You can use the all programs menu to look at what is coming on, & click on them to cue them up to record. I have one of these box's & I think it's just superb.

I have a Humax 9200T and the HD fell over after 10 months. What a farse sending it back for repair. Humax would not accept it back through Martin Dawes, I had to call them, fill in and return their authorisation form, wait for a call back to allocate a day to me and then package it up and wait all day for a courier to collect. Then wait for a courier to drop it back off. What A NIGHTMARE HUMAX.0

Just a small "did you know that...." regarding PVR's.
Did you know that the reason most programmes on commercial stations now have a sponsors logo before and after the adverts is because the TV companies have realised that people using PVR's, Sky+ etc, skip through the adverts and as much as 30% of television is now watched at a time other than the broadcast time. Having a company's "sponsored by" indent gives the viewer something to look out for when fast forwarding and these indents are now regarded as one of the most valuable advertising tools on TV as people now associate these logos as the start points within their chosen programme.
I often used to wonder what all this sponsored by nonsense was about until that was explained to me and when I think about it it does work.
Cheers,

Can someone help me please. I would like a PVR to replace by old VCR and I would like 1 that is really easy to use and value for money. The smaller hard drive is fine but I would like to be able to watch 1 channel and record another. What would people recommend? Can you use an LCD monitor with 1 of these boxes? Or best to get a LCD TV? Thanks!0
