they understood your query and answered correctly, the Humax transfer requires an application that runs on a PC to initiate the transfer of files, there is nothing in the firmware on the box to 'push' files over USB. The other option is an IDE modification which speeds up the transfer but still requires a PC/laptop

so there is no other way of putting pvr recorded data onto a usb drive except by using a usb cable to connect the pvr and the pc first?
without a usb cable connecting the two, presumably, the usb port is read only on the pvr.
i ask for clafication because i had originally mentioned:
my tv is over 25 feet from my pc and i don't fancy wires across the room. plus it would be handy if you record things for friends.

To anyone who's still thinking of getting a PVR, Morgan Computers (https://www.morgancomputers.co.uk) have the Digifusion 80GB Twin Tuner for £49.98.

The main good thing about this is that you get a 6 month guarantee, which is quite generous for refurbished goods. Plus, as it is only about 20 miles away from me I have an actual place to take it back to, rather than like eBay or mail order.

As has been said on here before, the menu's are a bit garish. I'm just over to the DigitalSpy site to have a look there, as someone said with the aid of a serial cable you can change them
