Got to www.openoffice.org and click on get openoffice.org. then click on download openoffice.org. On the next screen click on Windows (or whatever OS you are using). On the next screen click on continue to download. "save to disk" should be selected so click save file.

Once the download is complete open the folder it has downloaded to (probably My Downloads) then find the install file (Ooo_2.3.1_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe) and double click it.

Click next and then unpack then next again, agree to the license agreement and click next, enter the username and click next. Leave it on complete install and click next. On the next screen tick the 3 boxes so it is the default app to open the document types listed and click next then click install. When it finishses click on finish.

Then to use it click on start, programs, openoffice.org 2.3 and select which app you want.

As I said in post 4 it doesn't put anything on your desktop, if you want that just create a short cut.

you can also delete the installation folder it puts on your desktop.
