Conveyancing - anyone heard of myhomemove?

I've just accepted an offer on my flat which I moved out of a few months ago - HURRAY!

The estate agents have suggested I use this company as they have dealings with them. The quote seems pretty good, but it would I suppose. Not sure about the added extra costs and delays etc etc that you hear about.

Has anybody dealt with myhomemove.com? If so, I'd really like some feedback about them.

If you enter "myhomemove" into the search box at the top of the page, and select "forums", you'll see several comments regarding this company.

    Alternatively, you could try:

    http://www.abodeconveyancing.co.uk/

Who are one of the very cheapest, but who also get good reviews. I've just signed with them for the second time.

  • dweeby - presumably your experience with them was good as you are going to use them again?

What are they like to get hold of if there is a problem? Do you have a named person or just contact a helpdesk?

Their rates look very good - well under half the amount we have been quoted by a local firm of solicitors. That's a saving of almost £1000 (even with the quoted chancel liability indemnity that everyone seems to be charging these days)
  • Check whether the estate agents get a referral fee and check all the small print in any estimate and terms and conditions to see what extras there are. Are they really any cheaper than local solcitors?

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

Let me first say, I really don't like estate agents or solicitors! (especially estate agents) - necessary evils...

But, you have a named person dealing with your case, and you have a direct email, a direct telephone number and a direct fax for them. To date (and I've used them before), they've always answered the phone personally when I've rung.

A couple of (unimportant) emails have gone un-answered, but overall I'm reasonably pleased - mostly due to the cost!!! From what I gather, they are certainly no worse than the local guys.

We're using them again, if that's a recommendation.

    Hi

Has anyone recently used myhomemove at all for their conveyancing? Am thinking of going with them as their quote is good and also they are based in Leicester, where I am which is an advantage of other internet ones?

    Thanks

Just added this to emphasise the point that it is really worthwhile checking small print. As it would appear to be a factory operation obtaining business from estate agents all over the place, you need to be sure that if there are any complications, they can cope.

Are they any cheaper than local "High Street" solicitors in Leicester?

They are not that much cheaper than local agents.

Has anyone used ABode at all?
  • Hi, has anyone got any recent experience dealing with either Abode conveyancing or Conveyquote? Their prices are excellent, but are they good? Please help!!!

Shop around. Get FULLY itemised quotes. Read this to understand what (hidden) extras some solicitors/conveyancers might charge.
  • Sorry this is so late, but if it can help anyone in future then it will be worth my time posting.......MyHomeMove are actually the trading name of Premier Property Lawyers Ltd. You can search for them and get a better picture of their type of service.

I used them to carry out the purchase and sale of my old/new property. They are interent based so prefer to deal with you via email. Watch out for hidden extras after your quote. We got stung for two "indemnity policy arrangedment fee's" on our leasehold property, because we needed two indemnity policies. They never explained this but it is in the small print so they had us by the nackers. They kept adding extra's which ended up costing us about £4000. BEWARE.

I wouldn't use them again, and in all likelyhood, i'd give a local firm my money next time.
