in Credit cards
Hi Guys,
I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but i am seeking advice regarding some credit problems i am having.
My record in the past 2 years was tainted with some overdraft debts i got myself into with RBS. RBS then closed my account and basically said i was unable to open an account with them ever again.
Since then and for the last 1.5 years i have been squaeaky clean and have got a substantial amount of cash saved.
Now my bank (Abbey) keep asking me to upgrade my account from a basic account to somehthing better as i have a fair few grand in my account.
I went in on Saturday and was told that the credit check failed me and although i am a preferred customer, the credit was holding me back.
Now what do i do?
If i get my credit report, is there anyway to have all my record clear? - the reason i ask this is because i want a mortgage and would hate to do all the only to be let down.
If my record on my credit report is mashed or i have a CCJ, is there any way it can be removed?
Thanks guys

I think the key to your problem is the problem with RBS. How did this get resolved? Did you end up with a CCJ or Default? Do you still owe RBS money? Judging by the 'don't ever open an account with us again' comment I guess it went badly.
If you had a CCJ or default you're pretty much screwed. they will remain for 6 years and will become less and less important the older they get. However they will always cause you problems until they are removed.0 -
get copies of your credit report... its pointless to speculate when you can know for only a few pounds (or even nothing if use the 'free' offers)EU tariff on agricultual product 12.2%
some dairy products 42.1% cloths 11.4%
EU Clinical Trials Directive stops medical advances0 -
Ok what happened was i was always dipping into my overdraft.
The overdraft limit was something like £800.00
Anyways they gave me a loan of 1000 to pay of the overdraft and expected me to pay back the grand, which i did.
The whole thing was a fiasco because i was out of a job at the time.
They eventually got !!!!ed off and closed my account. A few months later i started work and needed a bank account so i went to Abbey. They tryed to set me up with a normal switch account but my credit check failed and so i was setup on a basic account.
The irony is that a year later i stumbled on this site and the article that drew me to it was "reclaiming my bank charges" and i successfully managed to claim back £1500.00 from RBS
Anyways i think this scene really messed it up for me.
If i do have a CCJ or similar - is it game over for me?0 -

Pretty much. You will struggle to get credit from mainstream sources.0 -
