descale a toilet cistern...

I have a toilet that is 6 years old. It does not have an overflow pipe the water back flows into the pan.
Over the weekend the toilets continually flowed into the pan and refilled the cistern. I think the ballcock/widget has a lime scale build up.
What is the best way to descale a cistern?

the water valve that the ball is connected to is probably worn out. They are only made of plastic and will not last forever. Check which way you cistern fills (there are 2 choices a pipe in at the side or at the base). Go to you local diy store and purchase the cistern kit needed. A full kit without the ball will cost about £4 from B&Q. At home isolate the mains water and run tank or pipe dry. Remove old kit and fit new one. Adjust the arm as to how full you want the cistern. It is easy and straightforward.0

this is the most likely valve you have. easy to repair. sometimes just cleaning it out will do the job.Get some gorm.0 -
