paiement taken 4 times

Hello all.

This morning my husband has bought his monthly train ticket. He tried 3 times at the machin and couldn't get it done so he went to the cashier and process with not more trouble. When i checked the bank account i was surprised to see that the available amount was so small but the paiement doesn't show yet. I phoned my husband who told me about his attemps in the morning. I believe that the 3 unsuccessful attemps have be taken out the CC (lloyds TSB). Do you know what we shoud do to cancel it ? it is quite a lot of money and we are afraid they will not refund it.

Please any advise ?

  • I would not worry until you see it on the statement. It is most likely that the available balance will sort itself out in a day or two (as it just clears the funds before putting the actual transaction through).

What probably happened is that the machine did a check to ensure that funds were available and reserved those funds but the actual payment never went through.

I believe if no payment is processed after a few days (a week?) that the reservations on the funds will automatically expire. However, keep an eye on the account to make sure the further "payments" do not appear. I am uncertain whether your bank can do anything about the "reserved" funds if this is a problem for you money-wise before the reservations expire.

thank you very much for your explaination, it is very clear and i feel better. I don't need the funds so it is not a problem, it is just a matter of not being charged for something i have not spend.

I really appreciate your help, thanks again
