Sainsburys Rant

Morning.
The story goes,
23rd Dec purchased a packet of Sainsbury's chocolate orange polor biscuit bars.
28th Dec, opened packet a bit into the biscuit. Something stuck in my tougne, on closer inspection it turned out to be a slither of metal about the size of a sewing needle.
Called CS and had to take the product back to the shop ( 4 mile round trip for £1.20 refund) so they could send it off.
Now it's the 4th Feb and I haven't received an apology or anything from them and the product is "lost" in transit between the store and the lab.
I have the photo's etc and informed EH who are trying to chase but Sainsburys CS is utterly C***.

Is there anything else I can do. Just glad it was me and not my young daughter who bit into it.

Sorry for ranting.

Thanks
Think it's about time the comping fairy remembered where I am! lol

  • I would personally go into the store and state my case plainly. If I had no success there, I'd write a letter to their head office, enclosing the images and any correspondence I'd had with the local store.

    Hi

I have done all that, I spoke with the store manager and the head of customer care at head office.
Until the item is received by the lab there's nothing they can do.
I did have a phone call this afternoon to say sorry but the item is now lost and a letter will be sent out to me.
I asked if they wanted the photo's etc but the lady said not at the moment.

So I guess I will have to put it down the experience.

If you'd have given me the evidence, I'd have "lost" it too.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

It seems that you did it the wrong way round. If you had taken it to Environmental Health first, you wouldnt have had this problem.I you just wanted an apology, you have got one now.

    HI
The last time I spoke to EH I asked them what was the best way to handle a situation like this if it should ever arise in the future, they said it depended on the store.
Some like Waitrose and M&S are really good at getting things sorted but judge the situation at the time.

A letter of apology would have been nice but my concern was it might not have been a one off, there could have been more and it needed investigating by the lab.

But as they say once bitten twice shy, if anything ever happens again it EH for me.

    Well no response from Sainsbury's.
Emailed Justin King, Chief Ex a rather snotty email, had a response from his PA, he is investigating the matter personally. Will give it a week to see what he comes up with.
