How long do you wait before refunding?

Hi All!

I posted a parcel of 5 items on 25 Jan but my buyer has been in touch to say it has not arrived. She first contacted me last Wednesday and I apologised and asked her to wait a bit longer to see if it would turn up.
I got another message today to say its not arrived and she has checked with the sorting office.
I will refund, but should I just do it now to keep her happy?
It not a lot ,total £15 inc P+P and I have COP so will claim with RM.

The other problem is I only have £12 odd in my paypal so I doubt that it will let me refund.Might have to get OH to pay me some money tonight:rotfl:

Would you refund her now?

  • A parcel isn't considered to be lost until 15 days after posting so i would wait till then as it could still turn up.

You can't afford to make a buyer wait until your own refund comes through as it can take months. A Royal mailclaim, as you say, cant even be started for 15 working days which is 3 weeks. Then it can take well over a month to get a refund by which time your buyer has assumed you are scamming them and have gone to a paypalchargeback.

I would normally expect my buyers to wait until at least week 2, possibly even just into day 15- 17 but absolutely no more.

That's actually what I meant. I wasn't suggesting waiting until the claim had come through - I know how long they can take!
