Help with new phone line.

I've recently purchased a new property through auction. The property was rebate.

How do i check the phone line, the provider and the number of this poroperty?

    Have a look around the house on the skirting boards etc, I found a BT box and followed the lead and there was a line coming through. I phoned up BT to confirm that I was new and my assurance that I won't need to pay the £125. It could be NTL/Virgin box instead of BT.
