As you haven't lost anything (at least until you ask?) .. what would the compensation be for? It's a mistake .... it's irritating .... but it happens and it's not the end of the world.
Well I agree that I haven't lost anything - yet, but this happening, even once, is a complete scandal. The loss of confidence I have experienced in their systems is something that I can't repair just by closing all my accounts with them.
The information is now out there, and the fact remains that despite the massive pretence of security that banks like to put on by asking loads of personal questions at every opportunity, the bank is unimaginably cavalier with my personal details.
I am very keen to rattle a few cages here; dismissing it as a mistake seems like a missed opportunity to make them take notice of an important issue.0 -
I wouldn't bother complaining to Halifax as they could keep you waiting for months with probably no positive outcome you should contact the Information Commissioner
http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints.aspx
and they should complain on your behalf.
That way it won't get hushed up as the penalties for banks breaking the law can be quite severe.0 -

No ... it's called a mistake. Shouldn't happen ... but it does. The information is now out there,.
Complete assumption on your part that they have sent your data to someone else? Probably hasn't happened .... which is why, my earlier post, you should be concentrating on establishing your money has your data attached to it? It's equally probable the data you've received has been appended to your money!
And it's not Data Protection .... it's an error. The information commissioner wont bat an eyelid, unless there's some sort of evidence it's systemic. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
