I am another Kefir fan!
Love it!
I make all sorts of stuff with hit.
I'll drink the 'milk' or leave it to ripen a bit longer and use it as a yogi drink for the kids with a splash of diluting juice.
I also strain it through a tea towel and depending on how long I leave it I'll either eind up with Quark or a lovely young soft cheese.
The cheese I then mix with some garling, sping onion and chives and it is DELISH on crackers.
Mine don't really look like grains though. It's just clumps that float about in the milk and if I shake it a bit it's not even clumps anymore. I'll just take a spoonful of that and add it to new milk and it'll go again.
Super stuff!
Serena51 Wouldn't mind sending you some but I live in Holland. So postage would be murder. I'm sure there's someone here living closer to you that wouldn't mind sending you a drop.0 -
We feed any excess grains to our chickens and they go crazy over it.0

I have had some kefir grains resting in the fridge for well over a year now. This week I plonked them in a glass jar and poured on some fresh milk and they were nicely kefirring within a couple of days.
I plan to use the kefir and whey to make some scones today. They smell a little high at the moment but I think will mellow out after a few goes.
I just got out of the habit of using them really and was quite touched at how ready they were to co-operate with me.
Incidentally I read that if the grains start to get a bit out of hand and you run out of people to give them to, you can just blend them into your smoothies and drink them.
I remember feeling very well when I used to drink kefir daily. Looking forward to doing so again.:)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
