Dilemma - What would you do?

No offence OP. But where is the wedding, what month, and are you expecting to fly first class?!
If you really, really want to go. Get a return ticket for two days. Spend two nights in a hotel ($100 = £50). The flight tickets will be no more than £500 (to California, £400 to East Coast). So that's £550. Use a dress you have, and don't spend anything you don't have to while you're there (£40 spending money is plenty for two days in the states).
So that's £590. That's more managable.0 -
Hi WestWalesWannabee,
If I were you I'd do some shopping around and get the best deal available. Even if I had to take 5 seperate flights to get there but it was cheaper I'd do it!

Do it, but do it as cheaply as poss - there has to be cheaper flights, someone who can put you up, and something in your wardrobe already...0

So you've got 9 months to get between £600 - £1000 - maybe you could set yourself targets for each month and try and raise the money by taking on an extra job/ebaying/car booting/mystery shopping/clicks/quidco/free bingo etc, etc -why not join the make £10 a day challenge or olympic challenge or something to spur you on?
You could also post an SOA on here and we could pick through it for you and see if there is any savings at all to be made?

No. Definitely not flying first class! Was going Economy and having to do a change over as well. As for wearing something I already have, am currently on a diet and so am hoping that by September the clothes I currently have won't fit me!0 -
Why not ask if they've got any friends going to the wedding that can put you up for a few nights? In my experience, Americans are extremely hospitable to guests. You can chop a few hundred quid of your costs this way.
What are the dates of the wedding, where are you flying from / to... people on this board are very good at finding cheap flight deals0 -

The wedding is on 27th September and so will prob need to fly from either one of the London airports or Manchester to St Louis. Any help massively appreciated! Thanks guys!0 -
I say do it! The main thing is that you have realised these things need to be thought about. You have enough time to find the money, and it's obvious you'd love to go and see your friend. Go for it!odi et amo0
