Quick update, the people who made the original offer weren't prepared to raise it at all so on the advice of the EA we held out for a while and have just accepted an offer (from a couple with nothing to sell) for 169,000.
Thanks everyone who offered advice.:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0 -

Interesting. Thanks for letting us know. How strange of that couple! If I were to go straight in with my max offer I'd tell the agent that it was a final offer and it's now or never kind of thing. Sounds like what someone else said, a panic offer and they changed their minds.
Anyway, good result for you holding out for more0 -
That's great that you held out for and got a better offer.
Now you need to keep the EA and your buyer on their toes to get a good quick exchange without any cheeky reductions on survey. Have you got somewhere in mind or will you rent?0 -

4 thanks for bad advice ? Too much of it on here at the moment.0 -
Another update, sale went through without any problems, our purchase had no major hiccups (just a bit of waiting around for will of probate), we exchanged earlier in the week and complete on Tuesday.:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0

He was posting in February - when the writing was already well and truly on the wall. Been strangely silent for a while for some reason.0
