Zanussi fridge/freezer packed up 12 months old

Hi everyone I hope someone can help me on 27th January 2007 I purchased my F/F
it was delivered on thursday 12th February 2007
since christmas it has been making funny noises and had got rather noisey...then it went on to auto defrost...now milk keeps going off so I had to have it on number 5... today the milk is off again bought fresh yesterday...so I looked in the fridge it was all water at the back and running down the back so I have now turned it up to number 6 which is the highest it will go...also the back off the fridge is now all frosted up ...can I ask curry's to replace or repair it under the sale of goods act 1979...or will I have to pay for someone to look at it...as it is just out of the warranty...sod's law...under the sale of goods act 1979 it should last up to 6 years...any help as I am going to ring them tomorrow....thanks:D

Plans for 2009

  • if you had it delivered on 12th is is still not under 12 mths old and therefore under warranty?
is it a frost free? If so it may just need defrosting- ice build up at the back can be a problem with frost frees- the noise might be the fan catching the ice? cold air to fridge in frost free's comes from freezer so if it is blocked with ice, cold air cant be blown through to your fridge- simply defrost it for 36 hours. you will still have time to do this and switch it back on to see if it has sorted it before 12th feb! hth

it's a zanussi ZNB 3240S frost free but there is no fan anywhere inside the fridge.....it has auto-defrost but seems to be doing that every day now...I got a (mastercare) application form off them and on that it says your F/F is due to expire on 27th January 2008 that's the day I purchased it not the day I got it......anyway under the sales of goods act 1979 it would seem you don't need any extra insurrance...although I have house insurrance so that is the next step if currys say bogoff...thanks:D

  • Hi
No there is no fan inside the fridge but there will be at the back-on motor! try defrosting it, honestly! it might save you a load of stress and hassle! This is a common fault with frost free fridge freezers- but please defrost for 36hrs- ice can be as thick as a telephone directory back there!! BTW i would not have it off mastercare re buying date, have you got something to say when you took delivery? good luck
