I can't help on the electrics,hubbys department and he's out,but we had leak under bath that came through kitchen ceiling first time not bad and it dried out and we repainted but it depends how wet it gets..............second time almost a flood and ceiling damaged area was removed ,in between allowed to dry out properly and then replaced with part new ceiling:-/

Hi. If you think there is a bit of water above the ceiling , drill some smal holes in it. If there is a lot of water just put buckets under. This will ease the weight on the ceiling and should stop it coming down.
You can fill the holes easier than replacing the ceiling..

Just a few thoughts.
When you say it was dripping all day - do you mean it drips even when the shower is not being used? If it is then this suggests that it could be a leak in the water supply.
If it leaks only when the shower is being used, then maybe the sealant needs reapplying. Stand in the shower when you are applying the sealant as your weight can alter the position of the shower tray slightly and use flexible sealant. It could be the loose tiles you mentioned so fix them back and grout them. It could also be the waste fitting leaking, but this may be difficult to get to.
If you do decide to drill into the ceiling - don't use an electric drill!0
