I don't know if this is the right section - but anyway.......
I HATE the ticketmaster charges - especially given they're totally useless anyway, and look to avoid them whenever possible.
In london you can book for the following venues at any of their box offices direct:
Mean fiddler group
Astoria
The garage
The forum
The Jazz cafe
Academy group:
islington academy
brixton academy
shepherds bush empire
or any of the other academy venues around the country.
e.g. you can buy birmingham academy tickets with no booking fees straight from islington academys box office
other places you can buy direct with no fees and avoiding ticketmaster are:
Royal Albert Hall
Royal Festival Hall
The Barbican
I also know that a lot of theatres sell direct - even though their events are all are listed on ticketmaster.
The other bonus about booking direct is that you get to choose your seats from the seating plan.
It's probably only of use to anyonewho works in Central london this - i tend to pop out and buy them on my lunch break -

I have a Royal Bank of Scotland Royalties Gold account and receive a 25% discount on all the tickets I purchase through them. The account costs £12.00 a month and offers many other discounts etc.0
