Hi:hello:
Good Luck with this. I've reduced the use of my Dish washer to once a week (trying for once every 2 weeks) and when I came back from holiday I never switched my freezer and 2nd fridge back on - so far I haven't missed either. I'm surprised about this as I thought they were essential...
Many on MSE seem to have a 1st of Nov date for switching heating on - not sure I'll manage this - if I get to the end of September I'll think I'm doing well. Apparently we are going to have a nice September so this might help us all....
Good Luck

Hi PO,
If HMRC is changing your tax code, doesn't that mean they're just going to sort out any overpayment through your pay rather than you having to send them a cheque?
The maximum non-taxable mileage allowance is 40p per mile up to 10,000 miles (per annum) and then 25p per mile thereafter.
If your employer only pays you 35p per actual mile maybe you can offset the additional 5p allowed by HMRC against the rest..?

You'll only be liable for tax on the excess, not the whole lot.
Also, with the new higher personal allowances coming in from Sept 7th, perhaps the change to your tax code will have less of an impact to your pay than it would have done on the old tax code (fingers crossed!).
Hope it's not too painful when it's eventually sorted anyway!0 -

Yeah - it does mean they're going to do that. What I don't inderstand is the lump sum payment from my employer - surely it would just make better sense to pay the 45p a mile and have done with it. Seems like a load of work for everyone to do it this way.
Anyway - will get my payslip on Tuesday and see what it says!
PO xx

At 2.00pm today I read my gas and electric metres. I'll do the same thing for the next couple of weeks and see if I can get an average, then start to try and beat it every week. So, not doing anything special to save on it this week, but then I'll start.
