I'm replacing a kitchen right now - we got ours in the sales - cost us about £400 for all units, worktops and sink but we did go for the next to cheapest. But at the end of the day I know it will still look good. I think you might have missed the sales now though. Also picked up new boxed taps in bootsale (RRP £50) for £10 in bootsales.

Quite often buying the doors is almost the same price as buying the complete cabinets, so you may as well replace the cabinets as well. The doors are not always the same sizes, so a match can be difficult depending on what you have already.

If your moving home, you can get a 10% off card at Focus. Useful for bits even if you don't buy your kitchen there. There are some closing down and also had a sale on in Jan. They also have some tiles reduced for £1 a box (may be out of date now as this was in Jan)

Basically have a good look (or surf!) round. £1000 is an easy budget - just depends what you want for £1000!!!

One thing we did find which you might like to do, if your spending £400-£500 before discount put it though as 2 lots then they both get the 33% off rather then a total of 33% off if that makes sence

Nope, makes absolutely no sense, you'd get the same discount in both cases.
  • We has a similar situation in my old house, the doors on the kitchen cupboards were a mess but the cupboards were fine.

We bought some pre made pine cupboard doors from B&Q, they come in all different sizes and we managed to find the right ones for our cupboards.

If I remember rightly I think they were about £12 per door.
They are unvarnished and have no handles, but after I bought some fancy handles and varnished them, they looked really good and all for a cost of about £120.

    cheers

  • Hi,

We run a small friendly business based in Lancashire selling made to measure and standard sized kitchen & bedroom carcasses including kitchen and bedroom doors. Mainly to builders and joiners. Hope that maybe  of interest. http://www.basicallydoors.co.uk

I just moved into a council flat and i replaced my kitchen cupboard doors with ones from b&q. The doors cost me £1 each and i needed 7 and the handles cost me £14!

Go in to your local b&q and see if they have any bargains as they have just changed there ranges so are trying to get rid of the old stock.

Graham, put us all ut of our misery and tell us how long you have worked for homestyle kitchens.

Looks like a couple of years at least, strong bump btw - I'd imagine OP has done the job now over 3 years later!
