hi all thanks for reading not sure this is in the right place
My dad had a nocturnal seizure last week and has been told tosurrender his driving license (which he is) but as a self employed plumber its not going to make life easy. I just wondered if there was any help available or where best to go for advice.
Thanks in advance

Hi jdc I am sorry about your dads license I can understand how difficult it will be for him without a license, I don't have any advice for you but someone will be along shortly who may be able to help.
Best wishes

it is a sad fact that after a seizure you have to wait a year of being seizure free until you can drive again. but i'm sure you can see why.

(although research that came out in 2003 implies this ought to be 3 months-it doesn't help your dad)
if he goes down to the job centre plus and speaks to the disability advisor there they will know about help. i know that people in paid employment can get taxis to and from work. i know his position is very different but there may also be something available for him.
he will be entitled to free bus travel and a disabled persons rail pass for 1/3 off.
maybe he could consider taking on an apprentice who can drive?
the nse have a good forum- you could try asking for similar experiences on there
