  • Look for the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
Sometimes if you get in touch by email they send you more spam emails and sell your email address.

You could just have the emails deleted as soon as they arrive in your inbox.
But you would still have to delete them for your trash.
    Or change your email address?

NEVER CLICK "UNSUBSCRIBE ME" LINKS in and email.

all it will do is "confirm" your email address to a email spam program, and you will get hundreds more.

I use a program called Spam Inspector, which filters out 99% of spam.

    Did you see that part?
And i have clicked the link myself and never had anymore sent.
How did they get your email address in the first place?

You must be psychic, or incredibly lucky. The subsequent messages wouldn't come from the same sender - they'd sell your address to others.

I get 100s of spam e-mails every day. It's a damned nuisance but I use filtering software (mailwasher) and get through them that way.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I would have answered sooner but I've had problems with my PC. First I dropped a cup of tea and knackered the keyboard, and then suffered a crash due to a virus infection.

I have tried the unsubscribe on the emails before and as one poster said I just got loads more, so it looks like for now I shall just have to keep deleting them and hope they stop soon.
Odd thing is the start of it coincides with problems I had with an ebay seller, who sold me fake trainers, and I complained and have had these emails almost to the day since.

As far as I can tell most people's email addresses get added to spam lists as a result of someone they've corresponded with getting hacked or getting a virus. The virus then extracts all the email addresses from their address book, and adds it to the spam list. I got a spam the other day and was worried about that being the first of a flood but I've not had any since- hopefully that one was just the result of a bot autogenerating addresses.

Unfortunately foreverskint there is nothing you can do to stop them spamming you, you'll just have to hope that the authorities catch the spammer and shut them down. Spam filtering software is your only option I'm afraid.

Only thing you can do is what boogiemaster suggested and change you email addres, you can then change to your new address on ebay & all the sites you want email from. it's better than any spam filter. use an online email account when your forced to give an email addres & you don't want to like btyahoo with built in spam blocker

In case changing your email address is too much bother (have to let everyone know your new email including any sites you're signed up to), a spam filter is very effective. I use Spamihilator and it gets rid of 95-99% of spam. And I get loads!!!!
