Disgusted with Sky

Excellent so you're getting Sky + as well then?
I'll give Sky their due, they normally try anything they can to keep their customers, even offer packages at 75p a month for 6 months if you're thinking of leaving.0 -
I cancelled my sky due to incompetence with their staff. The staff were abusive and rude and id been a customer since year dot.Im keen to see sky lose all their programmes, already they have lost some football and golf and aussie rugby league, bring on the competition.. My kids think i should get it back in my wife misses her monkeys on the discovery thing and all blame me.But i will not move on my principles.Everyone should boycott until they get the message that we are customers not the priviliged.0

virgin media have all the discovery channels ect so your wife could have her monkeys back

Ours broke about a month ago. Rang Sky and OH was talking to them. He said I'll put you on to the wife as she is our finance person. I called across the room "if they are going to charge we are going back to cable, I'm not having this every year or so".
Obviously heard me. Came out with new box - no charge. Always worth a go (although I meant it).0 -
Me or my family have NEVER paid for a repair in all these years, tell them you are going to cancel, & if need be do it & then get your other half to re-apply as a new member. I am sick to death of being a loyal customer paying outrageous amounts of money for mostly crap channels & then on top of that, paying for a crappy box to see the channels on!
HTH & Be firm, these guys need a shake-up, lets start it now......bring it on
No one said it was gonna be easy!0 -

Ah, see my mistake was telling the girl on the phone that I didn't want to pay the repair bill because (a) it was their software update that had caused the box to fail and (b) that I believed Sky were deliberately knocking out boxes to generate revenue from the said repairs.
She stuttered and blustered a lot, a little like a child caught with it's hand in the cookie jar and I got to cancel within about 40 seconds. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
I was told that it would cost £65 to send an engineer
Sorry peeps,
The people that Sky send out aren't Engineers or Technicians. I doubt very much if they even qualify as Mechanics
The term Engineer is widely abused in this country and many grease monkeys claim that they are Engineers. Goto the continent or the USA or Australia - you cannot call yourself an Engineer unless you are appropriately qualified (normally degree level plus further training plus experience).
BTW I am an Engineer (Chartered Engineer)

Get over yourself
, of course there not Engineers no, but I would
class them as technicans though, not that it even matters really.0 -
Its actually an important point, most people, especially the elderly, would trust an "Engineer" to be suitably qualified for the job. This is certainly not the case with a lot of sky "Engineers" (or the numerous "Computer Engineers" advertising in newspapers nowadays!!... 1yr fixing mates PC's and a little bit of luck does not make you an engineer!!).
I for one can see why people like mcwarre, who have put in the time, get frustrated!! and before you ask, Im NOT an engineer!!
