Disgusted with Sky

I don't know if I have posted this message on the correct board, so please let me know where to go if I have.
With the bad weather we have been having recently, there is now no signal being received through my dish. I think the lnb has broken in the wind as there is no damage on the outside of the dish.
Anyway, reported this to Sky and they said it will cost me £60 just for someone to come out and take a look at our dish, not including any costs for fixing the dish or for a new dish.
I saw advertised that new customers can get a brand new Sky box and dish for FREE and installation for £30! But because I am an exisiting customer I have to pay £60 installation fee and whatever the box and dish cost. They told me, I could get the installation for £30 only if I upgrade to Sky+ (thus paying £149 for the box) which I do not want to do because I can't afford it.
Where is Sky's loyality to their loyal customers? (I have been a Sky customer for about 10 years).
Is there someway I can get the New Customer price? I can't afford £60 and more to fix/replace my dish.

How much do you pay Sky per month?

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.
  • Try phoning up to cancel, telling them you cant afford the fix, they usually offer a free repair rather than loose you.

try looking in yellow pages for an engineer - they charge less than a sky one
or try freecycle and see if anyone has an old dish they no longer want

My box conked out a little while ago and I was told that it would cost £65 to send an engineer, I said no thanks I'll ring cancellations. I spoke to a great Scottish guy, told him I was fed up that as an existing customer of many years, they were trying to charge for an engineer, anyway, long story short, they sent an engineer with a new box within 2 days and installed sky+ for £49 within 2 weeks, I got to keep the new Sky box too :j

My mom was having proibs with her sky + box, just call Sky and as soon as u get thru ask for cancellations, tell them u want to cancel cuz ur not recieveing the service ur paying for ect ect, and tell them that Virgin will give u there free Digital Box.

They will send a engineer out for free to try and fix it, and also will upgrade ur box cheaper, I had to pay £50 i thin for my upgrade.

its more likely that the dish has moved or the cable come loose, if you can reach the dish try moving it left or right a tad, and check the cable is connected.

After reading your post, I was inspired. Rang Sky and they will be sending out someone to install a new dish and box for free! Fingers crossed this goes accordingly
