slow service for jsa award

I contacted j c on 3/6 to claim jsa having been made redundant. The first appt they could give me was 21/6th.When i arrived they kept me waiting over 20 mins. Then ,i later discovered, they didn't copy all my documents.Next was a letter from M Keynes asking for evidence which they should have had!SO--i sent all relevant documents to them. When i rang today,i was told that my post had arrived and was on someones desk WAITING! to be sorted out when, whoever, comes in this afternoon!!! Now i think it sucks! Its not as if claiming is a simple matter, but the service should be better than this .If this country has such low unemployment, then why so long to deal with a claim??I Its not a lot of cash but i need it! Has anyone else had trouble? And who do i complain to? not another gov dept thanks!!

  • Contact the supervisor at the original office, and complain loudly. Ask for an interim payment, on the grounds that their errors delayed your claim. Then ask him/her to contact the Decision Makers to hurry your claim through.

Sorry benefit master, but complaining loudly really isn't the way to go, it's likely to wind up the staff and they will only need to create an incident report, which in turn creates more work,

Catford, you are correct it is unacceptable. If you contact your local JCP they should be able to contact JSA team and ask them to consider interim payment, they have to do this if money is due as a crisis loan wouldn't be applicable.
