Bl00dy Barclays Online banking

I got locked out of my Barclays Online Banking account. I don't think I made a mistake with my PIN etcetera but I can't prove I didn't.
Anyway, I 'phoned up to get my login details reset, and I was told they should arrive by post in a few days. Meanwhile I carried on using my wife's login details for the same account, no problem. The following day I wanted to move some money only to find my wife's login was locked as well.
I 'phoned Barclays again only to be told, "very sorry sir, the wrong login details were reset, we can't stop it or revert it, we'll have to send new details for your wife as well."
Numpties. Fortunately it only took 2 days for the new details to arrive so we were back in business fairly quickly.
In addition, we always have to go through the rigmarole of explaining that we both gave third party access to so my wife and I can each talk on behalf of the other when dealing with the bank online or over the 'phone. We've had to set it up twice because they never seem to be able to find it in their records.
This is in addittion to many other problems we've had since The Woolwich were taken over, and as a result we're in the process of changing banks.

if its joint they would have to reset both for security reasons.
  • Barclays are absolutely terrible at the moment. OH needed to get a card 'scanner' thing from them recently, as apparently you can no longer add new people to your online banking without scanning your card in (or something ...), he called up for it, was told in would come and then found they'd locked him out of his online account. He got letters telling him the account was reset for 'security' reasons and he'd have to call, and when he did he was passed around India for three hours and nothing got sorted. Still no sign of the 'scanner', but now OH can get back into his account using the old details ...

They also cancelled the wrong cards recently when the cards for a new account got lost in the post - OH and I were left with no money for a good few days when both of our cards got swallowed! They were apologetic when we rang but there was nothing they could do, beyond cancelling all of our cards and sending out new ones.

    Barclays are absolutely rubbish ...

No, that is not correct. We each have separate "user accounts" with separate PIN and "memorable word." These operate completely independantly as if they were individual accounts.
As I said in my original post, the bank admitted they had reset the wrong user account and apologised for their mistake.

That sounds familiar. When Barclays took over from Woolwich we had al sorts of problems with information not being transferred across along with cards and cheque books not arriving. Then I was sent wrong PIN info and lost my card in an ATM as a result. Luckily the local branch is 200 yards down the road so I went and had "a word."
"Very sorry, we'll get head office to talk to you." They sent us two bottles of wine for our troubles and a follow up call. "Was there anything they could do to satisfy us?" They were a little taken aback when I pointed them in the direction of a MSE thread about similar problems, and then I just told them I was going to change banks. "Was there anything they could do to change my mind?"
"No, I've already opened an account with a local bank that has a UK call centre."

The mortgage will be paid off this year so that will be the end of our relationship with Barclays.

Oh, the wine was crap as well.
