Yes I find this too - most of my turmeric-stained utensils return to normal, simply after time. It is the same with beetroot stains. There may be hope yet...... :-)"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -

I'd give "the usual" a go:
- spray/leave anti-bacterial cleaner on it.
- mix bicarb of soda with a little bit of water and "scrub" that gently into the area and leave ... repeat 2-3x.
- rub with some washing powder (stuff intended for clothes), working it into a paste with a little water and leaving it on for awhile.
Anything easy/attainable's worth a go.0 -
Curcumin is the "essence" of turmeric, and it's only soluble in alcohol or oil, not water.
Wash the bowls out with hand soap (not dish soap) and don't 'scrub', rinse and drip dry, then wipe with alcohol or vinegar on a clean cloth to lift the worst of the stain. Finally fill with a weak bleach solution and leave overnight before rinsing well with clean water.
If your clothes get stained, same principle. Hand soap neat (don't scrub), rinse in cold water, soak in vinegar or alcohol, and wash with a bio-laundry product on a cold wash (alternative to bleach). Ideally dry in direct sunlight.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.0 -
A tip I read on Pinterest one time was to soak stained teacups/kitchen utensils/food storage tubs overnight in a basin/bowl of water with several Steradent or other denture cleaning tablets. I've done it with teacups, and plastic items stained with curry or pasta sauce, and it worked a treat. Don't know about turmeric in particular but might be worth a try?0

I often use a white plastic micro cooker for those yellow vegetable rice mixes which I assume contain turmeric in the mix. It turns bright yellow up to the water level after cooking but I find that if I wash it and leave it on the sunny kitchen window sill it turns back to white after a couple of days. Usually works for storage containers too. Unfortunately you may have to wait for a sunny day though...The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.
