Utensils all gone yellow...turmeric!

Hi all
Made delish tomato and potato curry last night..but this morning,...disaster.

I've come to wash up, and my favourite white silicon bakeware and other white plastic bits are all stained yellow... I suspect it's the turmeric that i added... and it won't budge.

any ideas???

thanks all

Got the same problem here with my white spatula and wooden spoons. I have never been able to remove it. I use one set for curry and one set for other stuff now. It won't affect the flavour of food as it has only dyed the stuff.

It does not budge. I bought some lovely duck egg blue utensils and they are now lime green. Ah well.

Don't know whether soaking in a bleach solution would lighten the colour but turnmeric stains are the very devil to remove. I have a light colour kitchen worktop so have to be very careful when using it.
  • I have a white melamine ladle which always gets stained with turmeric - but it wears off after a week or so - until the next curry!!!

We have a cream leather suite, we took out some insurance on spillages and stains - it does NOT cover turmeric.
