Just wanted to say a big thankyou to Rhonda Jean. Since finding this thread on MSE Ive been reading her daily blog, and it always cheers me up. Its nice to know there really is an alternative to the 'rat-trap' that has become our material life in the 21st century.
THANKYOU Rhonda Jean

I also want to say thanks to Rhonda Jean, whose blog I found recently through the OS forum. I find her blog and also OS inspiring and it has really made me think about my life and what I truly want and need from life to be happy. What I have found is that I dont need most, if not all of the stuff that our consumerist society tells us ( brainwashes) that we should have - ie material goods. I dream of the day I can be entirely self sufficient and spend my time growing veg and keeping chickens! thats a long way off at the mo, but there's nothing wrong with having dreams.0

I havent read the blog yet but just wanted to say its so nice to think that people really do want a change.
I was working until last november for minimum wage ..rushing round like a headless chicken, never seeing my dh and missing the kids school stuff etc. etc. I was so stressed I didnt have time or the motivation to cook. My back was getting really bad from lifting very heavy boxes at work and one day I got up and couldnt move my kneck. I decided then enough is enough. This is not how its meant to be ...a couple of weeks later I quit my job and havent looked back:j . I am loving being at home and feel better than I have for years. My kids have real food in their bellys and a calmer mum!! I have had to endure the "what are you going to do now " or "when are you going back to work " comments but I say I am happy at home. I am getting on track with my budget and cooking and have learned how to bake bread. This site has been an inspiration
