Goldfish issue default after 2yrs in DMP?

My husband and I are in a DMP managed by CCCS (God bless them) which started 2 yrs ago. We managed to increase our monthly payment for distribution amongst multiple creditors from £105 per month in 2006 to £418 in 2007.
Everything has been going fine until a letter arrived from Goldfish for my husband yesterday with a Default notice and a letter stating that he is £199 in arrears on his payments. We know this is not true as payments have been going out monthly to them as recorded on our statements from CCCS.
As its the weekend, we can't phone CCCS to take advice and we are both too frightened to phone Goldfish as the thought of any conversation brings back the horrors of the initial stages of the DMP.
I think what I am after is some reassurance. Is it likely that because we are approaching the annual review date we have with CCCS of our financial situation, that Goldfish have flagged us up?
I just don't understand why a Default notice has been issued now as we had one of those right at the beginning of the DMP.

Don't worry as nothing can be done over the weekend. As CCCS are sorting things contact them tomorrow and let them deal with it. It could just be a standard letter which doesn't fit your case (like the Egg customers who have good credit ratings but have been told otherwise)
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • I would imagine that it is some kind of standard procedure especially the arrears. You accounts will invariably show as in arrears even though you on a DMP. Little surprised about the default, but of ashame considering how long and established your DMP is It could be an amount that arrears are at that has automatically triggered the default. SPeak to CCCS as has this could be an computer generated thing it may be possible to ge GOldfish to remove. I know looking at my Credit Score I have one default (Egg) and the rest just show as late or delayed payment but there are lots of Red lights!!! Let us know what CCCS say as I would be interested as I too am approaching my 2 year point as well. GF

Thanks for both your replies. DH has decided to be brave and phone tomorrow. He received a statement from Littlewoods(another creditor) with a £5 Admin fee charged and phoned them as they are always really nice, to ask why as we thought it was a late payment charge and CCCS are never late.
The lady he spoke to said it was just a one off charge to continue the DMP for another year so he felt like confronting Goldfish.
Got himself psyched up to phone and then we realised they close at 2pm on Sunday!
So he'll be on the phone tomorrow morning hoping its just a computer letter.
  • Not sure if it is relevant but we've been hit with late charges this month as it seems that CCCS paid later than normal. Not sure why!

Thanks for that Stillsmiling. It really helps to be able to hear that other people are in the same boat. We tend to think we are all alone in this!

Hi , I understand the cccs and paylpan do a wonderful job for people in debt . But just feel that you are at the mercy of the DCA at the end of the day. With the credit crunch apon us, are the OC pushing harder for their money . You can be going along merrily then crash one of the creditors say no thats it we want all our money. I fear this is going to happen more and more . What we should remember is these free debt help companies are supported by the credit industry.

I have just read a post on the Consumer Action Group forums which states the poster has had exactly the same letter as my DH received.
stapely thank you for your comments but I do think it is in the creditors' interests to work with the CCCS and Payplan as our only other option (along with many others in debt) is bankruptcy.
If we haven't got it, they can't have it! And having the intermediary to help is wonderful. DH and myself were on the verge of suicide with worry until CCCS took over.
